Norrington followed behind her and took a seat a few feet away from the horse. He pulled his knees up to his chest and rested his head against them. Now that they had stopped, his body felt like it was about to give up. He closed his eyes briefly and listened to the wind.
Thankfully the horse stayed put, happy to get to eat. Aimee stepped back and moved to sit next to Norrington. She didn’t say anything, she kept quiet and looked up to the sky to see thousands of stars flickering.
He felt Aimee sit next to him and he lifted his head. He looked over at her and smiled. He reached out a hand and placed it on her shoulder. “Amazing isn’t it? All those stars. Makes you feel small, doesn’t it?”
She nodded. “Ze stars are amazeeng. When I couldn’t sleep as a leetle girl back ‘ome, I would just open ze window and look at ze stars. Papa or maman would find me ze next morneeng sleeping next to ze window.” she chuckled. “My seesters deed it too!”
